31  Linux Stuff / Kernel / Re: 3.0.2 new kernel available on: August 18, 2011, 12:15:26 AM
Hi cbxbiker61,

I have a question about upgrading the kernel in my guruplug. I have attached a eSata drive to the guruplug and is booting from it, so I think upgrading a system like mine should use the option --rootkernel instead of the --nandkernel, isn't it?. If not, how could I perform the upgrade?

Thanks for keeping our guruplugs updated!,

Hi,

Same thing upgrading a guruplug, the path is incorrect, so maybe there's something wrong in the script. The master will provide a solution soon!

Hi,

In my case, the first link works, but no 2.6.39/ exists:

Seems that has dissapeared from the server...

Hi,

I have a guruplug server plus with the secondary board damaged, so I cannot use the USBs and the uSD. I have contacted Globalscale to buy a board, but they don't sell the boards, only complete guruplugs or the service to repair the board.
If anyone has a damaged guruplug with this board working (I assume the main board is damaged), I'm willing to buy it.

For the price, Sheeva, for connectivity but slightly higher price, Guruplug, but I think is not available unless you order high quantities, maybe you prefer the dreamplug.

Hi,

I have found that the problem of the Guruplug is U4 (GL850G). It has a short in the pin 48 (V33) to ground. The chip seems damaged. I'll try to get a new GL850G and replace it, or a new board from Globalscale.

Hi,

I have just upgraded one of my guruplugs and installed systemd, no tweaks, just installed and I'm impressed...now boots really fast!

Thanks a lot,

Hi,

Do you remember which kernel had your guruplug before failed?. I will try it tonight.
I made a downgrade to the original 2.6.33.7 (if I remember well), but the problem was the same. I reimaged all the guruplug (uboot/rootfs/kernel), and still the same, so I think does shouldn't have anything to do with upgrading, but there are many coincidences....

Hi,

The uboot is starting the USB, in fact using the usb commands, only reports the main HUB. I believe something fails in the hardware side, this is the reason I wanted to check the signals.

42  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / Hardware / Guruplug server plug -> where's USB power in the schematics??? on: June 28, 2011, 02:39:35 PM
Hello,

I got a guruplug that has the USB and SD not working at all. I have downloaded the schematics here https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=567954&fcc_id=%27YCJ003GP%27, following the link in another topic of this forum.

Now I want to check if the USB hub controller is working properly (2F-U4). The point is that in page 13 of the schematics, U4 needs the +USB_VCC and the SD reader (U2) needs +SD_VCC, but I could not find where those voltages come from.... I have searched in the whole schematic but no success. Is there a typo in the schematic?. Do I need to go to sleep?

I will pay a virtual beer to the 'finder'...

 Thanks in advance,

PacoLM

Hi,

Any advice on this?. Should I try to install a previous kernel or do some check?
