1  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / Hardware / Re: SheevaPlug Power Supply Failure on: August 27, 2011, 06:18:22 AM
Same problem here with same capacitor. I replaced it with a similar one and problem solved. MANY THANKS!

Regarding tlum's comment "The SheevaPlug packaging was a big selling feature and it becomes a lot less compelling when you add an extra item to the package, hence my desire to try and salvage the unit without such modification." I completely agree but at the same time I would sacrifice the fancy package (very nice white box with magnets in the folding lid) and put those cents to improve the PSU with better components and/or PSU design.
2  Linux Stuff / Linux distributions / Re: Debian installer can also install Debian stable (lenny) now on: May 10, 2010, 06:49:46 AM
I have found a page to install straight forward GNU/Debian Lenny on NAND:

http://chiana.homelinux.org/~marc/eib_sheeva.html

I stopped on "Preparing our KNX/EIB System".

Before running "apt-get update" and "apt-get dist-upgrade" I ran:

Code:
gpg --keyserver pgp.earth.li --recv-keys 68FD549F
gpg --export -a 68FD549F | apt-key add -

Thanks! PROBLEM SOLVED!
4  Linux Stuff / Linux distributions / 2.6.32-2-kirkwood fstab parse error on: May 09, 2010, 03:29:59 AM
After running apt-get dist-upgrade I get the following:

Code:
Setting up linux-image-2.6.32-2-kirkwood (2.6.32-8) ...
Running depmod.
Running update-initramfs.
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-2-kirkwood
Warning: /etc/fstab parse error; guessing that the root device is /dev/sda2
Press Ctrl-C to abort build, or Enter to continue

/proc/version shows

Code:
Linux version 2.6.32.2 (mleeman@bane) (gcc version 4.3.2 (Debian 4.3.2-1) ) #1 PREEMPT Tue Dec 22 15:48:46 CET 2009

and /etc/fstab shows

Code:
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
tmpfs /lib/init/rw  tmpfs rw,nosuid,mode=0755 0 0
proc  /proc proc  rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev 0 0
sysfs /sys  sysfs rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev 0 0
varrun  /var/run  tmpfs rw,nosuid,mode=0755 0 0
varlock /var/lock tmpfs rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,mode=1777 0 0
udev  /dev  tmpfs rw,mode=0755 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm  tmpfs rw,nosuid,nodev 0 0
devpts  /dev/pts  devpts rw,noexec,nosuid,gid=5,mode=620 0 0
/dev/root / rootfs  rw 0 0
tmpfs /var/cache/apt  tmpfs defaults,noatime

The point is that I can't just ignore the error because I can not further install any more package.

Any idea? (booting from NAND)
5  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / U-Boot stuff / Re: Sheevaplug: Verifying Checksum ... Bad Data CRC on: May 02, 2010, 02:21:24 AM
SOLVED!

It seems files uImage and uInitrd included in base.tar.bz2 I downloaded from http://www.cyrius.com/debian/kirkwood/sheevaplug/unpack.html have wrong md5.

Fix found in http://plugcomputer.org/plugforum/index.php?topic=1505.msg9287#msg9287

I'm guess I'm missing something somewhere, but I can't get it... I'm also getting "Bad Data CRC" message when booting from USB.

I have tried uboot versions 19, 23 and 24 but does not help.
