I just did a major restructuring of the forums, and moved most of the posts to the relevant forum. For new posts please use the relevant forum, or at least the most relevant if you don't find the exact one.
So how can we really make things easier? I'm looking for practical things we can do.
Note that the wiki pages are getting more and more information; I agree with you that today's information is mostly when things work fine and less when disaster happens.
I'm thinking of expanding the "Install Distributions" section to the following -

Nicolas Pitre added openocd support for the plug (thanks nico). A nice wiki page from Tim Ellis (thanks Tim) describing building openocd, and using it to reflash the plug.
There is an openocd (open source project) support for the plug. The connectivity is simply using the same usb cable. I haven't seen a wiki explaining how; but I know people have already tried it (timtim on #openplug IRC channel at freenode).
