31  Linux Stuff / Kernel / Re: 3.2.2 new kernel available on: January 27, 2012, 03:26:15 AM
This one still locks up with same problem on the Dreamplug.

I have no idea of where to even begin debugging this.

Code:

The sheevaplug installer should solve all you problems.
33  Linux Stuff / Kernel / RAID1 on: January 23, 2012, 01:55:36 AM
Has anyone tried RAID1 on the Dreamplug (internal uSD and external SDHC)?
Can this be done under Debian?
What are the overheads?

It seems a cool idea for SD based systems.  Some fiddling with the multiboot u_boot would be required.

You experienced responses would be appreciated.

i wonder if spinifex could do it
spinifex does not have cross compilers anymore. I use a Sheevaplug running Debian Wheezy to build the kernels and SDLAN drivers. I have had no problems building any of the later 3.1 kernels using the .config that biker has placed on xilka.com. (However, I think I need to ressurect cross compiling for Marvell Dove. )

On the kernel front, I cannot get 3.2 or 3.2.1 to twitch on the Dreamplug. No boot. Further, on 3.2 kernels I cannot compile the SDLAN drivers on 3.2. The newer SD8787 drivers source code is unavailable to compile the new sd8xxx.ko/mlan.ko (and it is probably 3.2 incompatible anyway). For Dreamplugs, Linux kernels effectively stop at 3.1.

3.2.1 still is a nogo on my dreamplug.
I built the kernel myself and it does not work either

Same issue

Starting kernel ...

Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel.

It is very early in the kernel boot. I have tried various debug options but I get no more output than the above.
36  Linux Stuff / General Linux questions / Re: Big problems trying to update my original Sheevaplug. on: January 12, 2012, 06:59:17 AM
The env looks OK to me. I had the same problem with 3.2
A wild guess try bikers 3.1.8 kernel instead.
37  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / U-Boot stuff / Re: GuruPlug can't boot after successful install of debian on external usb drive on: January 10, 2012, 11:33:34 PM
The issue is usually either the partitons are not DOS partitions or the wrong type for u-boot
OR
the format of the boot partition

My guess, not a boot partition created by fdisk as a dos partition

I have carefully checked bikers (and my) .config. I have built dozens of variations trying to get 3.2 to at least start the boot process. None of them would even twitch. Wait for 3.2.1 methinks.

I've the same issue on my guruplug server plus. First i tried my own kernel (by just doing a makeold config run from a configuration which worked on 3.0) then the sheevaplug build from the link here, in both cases it stopped at booting the kernel.

Thanks, that's reassuring. I have fiddled a few likely parameters with no luck, so far.

Hi Biker,

When trying to boot using the dream 3.2 uImage, It hangs after the following console output.
I have tried building the kernel myself with the same result.
Any ideas.

Code:
Load address: 0x6400000

In the original init_setup.sh there is something like:

iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

Make sure you still have this

UAP FW is active

Means the firmware is loaded OK.

The ONLY firmware that I have any success with on Debian is the firmware provided by Globalscale on the delivered system.

You can get a copy at http://www.spinifex.net/plugs/downloads/dreamplug/marvell_wifi_firmware.tar.xz

The Marvel sd8xxx drivers need some work for the 3.2 kernel. Unless new source from Marvell appears it will be back to the disfunctional Libertas drivers for some Dreamplug owners.

more details required

# lsmod
# cat '/sys/devices/platform/mvsdio/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0:0001/mmc0:0001:1/device'
or
# cat '/sys/devices/platform/mvsdio/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0:0001/device'

The 3.1.8 release seems to have fixes for various wifi issues (that have been giving me trouble) and it now allows OPROFILE to be included (not just as a module cf 3.1.5).
