I also am getting near 25 steady and peaks at 30 for long transfers. SMB performance on this little bugger is spectacular compared to most NAS devices. I did disable the useless to me password stuff by setting it to share mode instead of user mode.
Also be sure you point the SMB share at the exact mount point of the Drive or you will get incorrect free space reporting.
I am trying to do the standard USB drive become a netdrive with samba. I got samba working perfect. I finally got the vfat drive mounted with the correct permissions.
My problem is that my 360 gig drive is 69% used and is reporting to Windows and OSX that it's got only 260meg free. How do I fix the correct size to other computers? in the plug everything looks fine.
What the heck is reporting wrong? Who has turned their plug into a ethernet drive and stuck with vfat so they dont have to format the drive and make it useless to windows machines?
apt-get install rtorrent works perfectly. I cant get transmission to install that easily.
plus if you configure it, you never need to touch it. drop your .torrent files in the USB drive and magically the torrents get downloaded to that location. No features needed.
now if I could get my rc.local to actually run I'd have rtorrent started on boot.
Just got the Sheevaplug today. I did the apt-get update and updated everything. but I cant get DNS resolution to work.
I am running DHCP so it should be getting the DNS server info from DHCP. it does not. so I add it in manually to the resolv.conf and it disappears as the file get's overwritten at every lease renewal.
How cant I fix the broken DHCP client to put the DNS server information in correctly?
