dist-upgrade has nothing to do with upgrading ubuntu. dist-upgrade is installing new files, wich can make some problems, but its very unlikly. "upgrade" command just installs new versions of the files, so its safer. I always used dist-upgrade when i had ubuntu. The command "do-release-upgrade" is upgrading your distribution, but dont try it on sheeva, it wont work, I just tried it. During installation you will get errors.

Hello,

I just downloaded the file and I get Error 500 when i try to run it:
Error message: Premature end of script headers: wpanel
Apache2 server is started and i am logged in as root. Other things work in cgi-bin directory. I used http://localhost/cgi-bin/wpanel/
if i replace wpanel by another file like info2htm in opensuse, then I see an output.

Or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for your reply,

I dont think that it was a current Kernel, because 2.6.22 was made in the year 2007, and its no way a jaunty kernel.

Look at wikipedia: "The SheevaPlug comes supplied with Ubuntu 9.04 ARM build.[2] The SheevaPlug has been supported since Kernel 2.6.27 and is currently shipping with 2.6.30-rc5 [3]"

its just a lie, i got a .22 one Sad And now i tried an upgrade to from jaunty (9.04) to 9.10 (Karmic) and there were some errors and it did interrupt the whole upgrade, my luck its still working fine.

I asked for the ssh because its not working with serial cable, on my host comp I just see ttyUSB0 and I need ttyUSB1 Sad

Then i dont have any php5-cli files on my opensuse.
It says "not found" so I installed just php5 with some dependencies. Same on my other comp with fedora, but its there on sheeva's jaunty.  Further, on both comps I see only ttyUSB0  Sad
"modprobe usbserial" and "modprobe ftdi_sio vendor=0x9e88 product=0x9e8f" dont do anything. I am lost Sad and globalscale support = 0

Anything else I could try to get it working?

Hello,

I got my sheevaplug from uk 2 days ago.

1) I got a 2.6.22 kernel on my box, why so? Jaunity had a lots higher kernel number.
2) There are problems updating linux cos of the missing directories, the problems will be gone if I do fresh install?
3) What Linux distributions are supported? Karmic? (I know it shoud be arm one)
4) How to turn off the plug? Do I need "shutdown now" or is there no problem if I just interrupt the electric current?
5) In most wiki descriptions you need to connect by a serial cable, is it strictly necessary, or are there any other possibilities like ssh? Or sheevaplug installer wont work?

thanks
