1  Linux Stuff / General Linux questions / Re: DisplayLink Green Screen, but no WM loads on that screen on: August 19, 2012, 10:22:51 AM
nevermind, solved my own problem; it turned out to be that I had installed in the wrong order and so overwrote newer files with older ones.  if anyone needs/wants my  working system, I made an image of clean debian with lxde for sheevaplug, I'll upload it upon request
2  Linux Stuff / General Linux questions / DisplayLink Green Screen, but no WM loads on that screen on: August 19, 2012, 10:11:43 AM
I have a sheevaplug with debian 6 on it, this is a fresh install unpacked from a backup I made so I could experiment with different applications on the plug, so there is nothing but the base system on it.  When I plug in the displaylink monitor, it goes green and dmesg shows that it is detected.  The model, resolution, and /dev alias are all correct.  However, typing 'sudo startx' causes the screen to blank momentarily, then return to green.  it does not load LXDE (which I have installed after decompressing the clean image).  I know this has to be something simple, but I can't find it.

Any help is appreciated.
3  Linux Stuff / Linux distributions / Can't install Debian to SheevaPlug NAND on: December 03, 2011, 03:44:24 PM
I have attempted to replace the default Ubuntu install with debian (wheezy) but to no avail.  I have tried using the sheevaplug installer, but it fails at various points each time.  It is always related to OpenOCD.  I have also attempted to use the default debian online installer and it gets to the point where it starts the partitioner, but then it can't get any further.  It freezes after 52%.  I have also tried the ESIA which actually appears to work, but there is no USB console after the hardware control is handed over the the booting OS.  Additionally, it doesn't show up in my routing table, which makes me think that it isn't completely booting.

Any suggestions?
