16  Linux Stuff / Linux distributions / Re: D2 SD Slot is is sdb or ubb ? and cant get uImage.d2plug_v05 to 'work' on: May 23, 2012, 08:08:16 PM
I think ,the doc mention usb boot is plug a usb flash-disk at usb port not plug-in SD card at on board card reader

I not try this combination before.

Do you want to modify kernel(uImage) or some reason need to put on sd-card

as I know ,you could leave the kernel at eMMC(D2 default kernel place) and rootfs at usb,sd card...

if you could accept kernel , rootfs at different storage

yopu could give a try , just need modify bootargs as below your mootcmdention way to do , the bootcmd realte kernel booting loaction , you could used default D2 bootcmd
17  Linux Stuff / Linux distributions / Re: D@ SD slot - Disk Utility does not see anything in slot on: May 22, 2012, 08:05:46 PM
Sorry , I can't full undrstand your question

I just to explain what I test

1. I test plug-in 2 size sd card into D2 , one is 8GB another one is 16GB
2. both could be detect , no matter I check it at ubuntu or I check it at console (type mount and dmesg) ,both I could found a storage be mounted , and I used it (like copy file into sdcard) also work
3. I check Disk utitlity , I also found it is same as I plug-in sd card to D2 , but I think it not imapct not impact your used case right?
4. I wounder for Disk utility, it is beacuse there are one card reader at D2 plug cause, I also try it at my desktop , used one card reader + 16GB sd-card ,plug-in my computer, I check Disk utility , it just show up onw card reader , not see any 16GB sd card info , so if you just wonder the Disk-utility behavior , I think D2 was same as Desktop
18  General Category / General Discussion / Re: D2PLUG problem kernel 2.6.32.9-dove-5.4.2 on: May 01, 2012, 07:46:55 PM
I download latest rootfs and kernel form download page as I previous said

and it work fine with get pakage with firewall through internet, so I think it enough to confirm IPTABLE is work fine

19  General Category / General Discussion / Re: D2PLUG problem kernel 2.6.32.9-dove-5.4.2 on: April 22, 2012, 07:36:47 PM
I has follow the below like to upgrade  kernel and rootfs at my D2plug, I didn't see what you
said
http://www.plugcomputer.org/405/us/d2plug/documentation/D2Plug-Software-User-Guide.pdf

BTW , as I remember ,has someone also has some issue  like yours , at that time ,the root cause is he untar the rootfs not add "--numeric-owner"

if not add above paramter at untar ,it has chance let some library at rootfs permite is wrong

so could you double confirm your untar rootfs procedure is "sudo tar --numeric-owner -xzf ~/d2plug-rootfs-20110903.tar.gz"
20  General Category / General Discussion / Re: D2PLUG problem kernel 2.6.32.9-dove-5.4.2 on: April 15, 2012, 07:58:16 PM
for kernel , you could used document form

http://www.plugcomputer.org/405/us/d2plug/documentation/D2Plug-Software-User-Guide.pdf

page 13,section 4:reflash eMMC ,search about the uImage word , you will know how to do it

another thing , just let you know , as I know you could through wireless ->AP-> internet or ethnet->internet,I don't think different connect to internet has the root cause, but for sync everything , I let you know I  used ethernet to connect to internet,
21  General Category / General Discussion / Re: D2PLUG problem kernel 2.6.32.9-dove-5.4.2 on: April 10, 2012, 08:25:51 PM
I have give a try , I not see any problem

I want to let you know , I am used latest kernel and rootfs form

http://www.plugcomputer.org/downloads/d2plug/index.html

and my procedure is

clik "system->Synaptic " search  firestarter, Mark it and Apply to install it , I didn't see any problem
22  Linux Stuff / Kernel / Re: D2Plug 2.6.32.55 new kernel available on: March 12, 2012, 11:31:23 PM
this case is need to recompile hdmitx driver for new kernel

you could download lattest kernel from D2plug download page

http://www.plugcomputer.org/downloads/d2plug/index.html

than need to do some porting

porting hdmi module code at "/driver/video/hdmi/" to new kernel 2.6.32.55

BTW, latest d2plug kernel code , hdmi is build in module, so if you finish porting, I think you could remove rootfs "/etc/rc.local" about insmod hdmitx.ko

you could reference below thread , I have answered it

24  General Category / General Discussion / Re: how to enter ubuntu‘safe mode on D2PLUG on: February 20, 2012, 07:47:57 PM
as I know , uboot could try to add "single" at uboot parmenter, I not give a try , if you wanted you could follow below procedure to do

for example

your u-boot like "bootarg=...root=/dev/sda1 single..." than your rootfs will has administator right

after boot up you could modify your sudor file at /etc folder to add your account and password

finish above procedure , you could back to normal boot-up( mean not used singe parameter at u-boot)
25  Linux Stuff / Linux distributions / Re: How to reinstall Ubuntu on D2plug on: February 19, 2012, 07:53:38 PM
the rootfs "d2plug-rootfs-20110903.tar.gz" at download page is ubuntu rootfs

could download "D2Plug Software User Guide" and "d2plug-rootfs-20110903.tar.gz" from below link

http://www.plugcomputer.org/downloads/d2plug/index.html/

you could reference section 4 or 5 , search keyword "d2plug-rootfs-20110903.tar.gz"
26  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Windows (R) operating system on a D2Plug? on: February 05, 2012, 07:43:49 PM
you fail case look different at your previous one

at previous one , error message is mount reconginze smbfs but complain cifs not support , so I want you add cifs support at kernel

at this one , I see you can't recongize the smbfs , I wonder you not install smbfs at D2plug , you could type to type command smbmount to check

BTW , I used command is "apt-get install smbfs" to install smbfs
27  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Windows (R) operating system on a D2Plug? on: February 01, 2012, 07:38:46 PM
let me said more clearily

first ,I think you used origion kernel at D2plug , the cifs feature not enable at default , so you will see some complain about cifs

to resolved this , you need to do is

1.download the kernel source,cross compiler and user guide form below link

http://www.plugcomputer.org/downloads/d2plug/index.html

2.follow user guide to re-build kernel, BTW  you could see the page 8 at user guide , "make dove_d2plug_defconfig" , after that , you need type make ARCH=arm

menuconfig, than enable cifs feature as I mention at previous thread ,save config , make uImage to buld kernel

3. burn kernel into D2plug follow user guild mention

28  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Windows (R) operating system on a D2Plug? on: February 01, 2012, 12:36:08 AM
the error message "cifs filesystem not supported by the system
"
meaning , your kernel not support cifs

you could re-build kernel, used menuconfig to let below config be true

"
CONFIG_CIFS=y
CONFIG_CIFS_XATTR=y
CONFIG_CIFS_POSIX=y
CONFIG_CIFS_DEBUG2=y

"
29  General Category / Application ideas and development Q/A / Re: D2 unattended to display stream - suggestions please on: January 31, 2012, 07:59:30 PM
I think gstreamer is better

due to at d2plug has hardware accerlate at gst framework, so I think gst is better

but I don't have any experence at your implement function so I just think if you could used gst is beeter ,others I don't have any idea
30  General Category / General Discussion / Re: D2Plug Support Needs Work on: January 31, 2012, 07:47:51 PM
I have give a try a tmy d2plug package , it work fine

I list my precedure for you ,maybe have some help

1.download tool-chain,kernel ..package form "http://www.plugcomputer.org/downloads/d2plug/index.html"

2.untar toolchain

3.build kernel, into kernel folder , type command  "make ARCH=arm dove_d2plug_defconfig" than "make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=<your intsall toolcahin path>/arm-marvell-linux-gnueabi-vfp/bin/arm-marvell-linux-gnueabi- uImage
