It was well known power supply problem but the symptoms were weird. Moreover on my first try to repair
I use another faulty (this time external) PSU:-)

Hello,
I  installed Debian on one plug on now I run it on another one. It works perfectly, but
mac address is wrong (seems it is assigned to the address of the previous device).
How to update mac address to the correct value?

There is no /dev/ttyUSB0 upon conecting a plug via USB-miniusb cable.
Green light is on, as well as Internet  LEDs while blue LED is off.

Is there a way to proceed?

I have tried restarted the Plug but it failed.
The green light is on (not blinking, the power supply seems to be ok) but there is no blue light.
I can't connect via cu as well.

cu -s 115200 -l /dev/ttyS0
Connected.

but that's all

Have no idea how to proceed. Restore Uboot, as described here:
 http://www.cyrius.com/debian/kirkwood/sheevaplug/uboot-upgrade.html ??

Hello,
Out of sudden my /var/log/kernel.log is full of messages similar to the one appended below.
The systems works (uptime 240 days) but from time to time there are problems with it  (from 2 days), ie.
cannot connect via ssh / digitemp has problems reading sensors.

The system runs on SDHC, /dev/dev/mmcblk
(installed from http://www.cyrius.com/debian/kirkwood/sheevaplug/unpack.html)
so I wonder why there are `Buffer I/O error on device mtdblock0, logical block 0' below

uname -a returns 2.6.30-2-kirkwood

Any help/suggestion is appreciated

For me extension cable works. No hub is needed
Not particular elegant solution...but alternatives are more costly

Even USB extension cable will suffice... So it looks like it is not power supply problem

Mounts if connected to Sheeva via 4-port USB hub. Thats progress:-)

no trace of it in dmesg/lsusb;...
It is a newer model with 3.0 USB claimed 100% compatible
with 2.0 and in fact  mounts perfectly to my PC (old fedora 8 )

Any help will be appreciated

Hi,

The time is in sync within a few minutes (thanks to ntpd I presume).
I was even not aware about the problem;
until I have looked into /var/log/apache/access.log recently

/sbin/hwclock --show
Is not working:
The Hardware Clock registers contain values that are either invalid (e.g. 50th day of month) or beyond the range we can handle (e.g. Year 2095).
And the system installed is Debian Lenny from cyrius.com

I wonder if is this a annoying feature or there is somethig I can do about it?

Exactly as described by birdman. _I was sure_ I have checked that
boot partitions is non empty but it has appeared on the second check
that it was untrue.

Sorry for false alarm.
Patriot LX 10 class works...

Running mmcinit twice means, modifying:

setenv bootcmd_mmc 'mmcinit; ext2load mmc 0:1 0x01100000 /uInitrd; ext2load mmc 0:1 0x00800000 /uImage'

to

setenv bootcmd_mmc 'mmcinit; mmcinit; ext2load mmc 0:1 0x01100000 /uInitrd; ext2load mmc 0:1 0x00800000 /uImage'

I tried to use this particular card to run Debian as described at
http://www.cyrius.com/debian/kirkwood/sheevaplug/unpack.html
with no luck.

Boot stops with `Bad Magic Number' message:

Debian runs w/o problems on Patriot 6 class SDHC cards.

Just in case somebody plans to buy LX series card.
