1  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / Hardware / External HD not recognized by sheevaplug on: October 18, 2012, 09:49:15 AM
Hello,

Recently i reinstalled my sheevaplug with the latest kernel available (3.5.7) and my Maxtor 1TB external HD is not recognized at all anymore.
I thought that maybe it was an issue with the kernel but downgrading it to the lowest version from http://www.xilka.com/sheeva/ did not make any difference.

The error I get is:
Code:
hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1

hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
.......

That gets repeated forever and the light from my HD keeps on blinking.

lsusb shows only:
Code:
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

But the HD works on my macbook running linux mint with kernel 3.2.0-23-generic

And this is the output when I plug it in my macbook:
Code:

Does anybody know if my usb port is not working correctly? or how I can solve this issue?

Thanks!

Hello,

I want to install Freevo on my sheevaplug, but it requires 250mb of depencies and i only have 125.52 MB left. (I'm using the internal flash).

Is it possible to install freevo and it's depencies on an external usb hd using apt?

I played with some settings in xorg.conf and finally i got it working correctly Smiley

Here is my config:
Code:
Section "Device"
        Identifier      "dl0"
        driver          "displaylink"
        Option  "fbdev" "/dev/fb0"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
        Identifier "monitor0"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "screen0"
        Device "dl0"
        Monitor "monitor0"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "dummy"
    Driver "void"
    Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
EndSection

Section "ServerLayout"
        Identifier "Default Layout"
        Screen  "screen0"
        InputDevice "touchscreen" "CorePointer"
InputDevice "dummy"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "touchscreen"
        Driver "evtouch"
        Option "Device" "/dev/input/event0"
        Option "DeviceName" "touchscreen"
        Option "MinX" "719"
        Option "MinY" "1057"

All you have to do is:
Code:
apt-get dist-upgrade
5  General Category / Application ideas and development Q/A / Re: DisplayLink integration? on: November 16, 2009, 12:00:21 AM
Have just tried this MIMO 740 integration using the 2.6.31.4 sheeva.with-linux.com kernel (complete with udlfb patch). Running X11 prompts some output on the screen but it is unreadable and constantly flickers.

Did you apply this patch -> http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libdlo/2009-June/000125.html
You have to compile udlfb again but after it should work Smiley

I was able to get the driver and it is working very good!

I have a Mimo 720-S.

Also the touchscreen works, but the X and Y axis are inverted...so if i go to the left, the mouse on the screen goes to the top and if i go to the top, the mouse on the screen goes left  Huh

Is there anyway to fix this?
I also tried the calibration tool but this is my output:
Code:
debian:~/drivers/calibrate# ./calibrator /dev/fb0
(null): cannot connect to X server

So i'm guessing that i have to execute it my X session, but i don't have a keyboard so how did any of you start the program?

Also thanks for the really useful information provided here!

But i'm using XP... somewhere i found that you should find the vendor and id in dmesg but it doesn't seem to be there

I'm having the same problem doing the installation from windows.

Putty connects but the installer fails

Could somebody post the "udlfb-0.2.3_and_xf86-video-displaylink-0.3.tar.gz" as an attachement here?
The download from http://projects.unbit.it/downloads/ doesn't work for me and i didn't find it anywhere else.

Thanks

I still don't know what caused the first error, but i was able cross-compiling the kernel using the suggestion from cbxbiker61 AND doing it on a 32bits system.
It seems the binary files from the cross-compiler are only for 32 bits.

Hello,

I'm trying to compile a kernel but at the end it fails with this error:
Code:
  OBJCOPY arch/arm/boot/zImage
  Kernel: arch/arm/boot/zImage is ready
  UIMAGE  arch/arm/boot/uImage
/usr/local/bin/mkimage: Can't map arch/arm/boot/uImage: Invalid argument
make[1]: *** [arch/arm/boot/uImage] Error 1
make: *** [uImage] Error 2

I installed mkimage as described here: http://www.openplug.org/plugwiki/index.php/Compiling_Linux_Kernel_for_the_Plug_Computer

Note that i'm building the kernel ON my plug.

When i try to cross-compile it on my system (x86_64) using the suggestions from this page: http://computingplugs.com/index.php/Building_a_custom_kernel#Getting_U-Boot.27s_mkimage

I get this error:
Code:
$ make -j2 ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=../arm-2008q3/bin/arm-none-eabi- uImage
make: ../arm-2008q3/bin/arm-none-eabi-gcc: Command not found
  CHK     include/linux/version.h

make[1]: `include/asm-arm/mach-types.h' is up to date.
  CHK     include/linux/utsrelease.h
  CC      scripts/mod/empty.o

make[2]: *** [scripts/mod/empty.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [scripts/mod] Error 2
make: *** [scripts] Error 2

but

Code:
$ ls -l ../arm-2008q3/bin/arm-none-eabi-gcc
-rwxr-xr-x 1 wout wout 189800 2008-11-13 19:13 ../arm-2008q3/bin/arm-none-eabi-gcc

Can somebody help me with one of this problems?
Thanks!
