2  General Category / General Discussion / [QUESTION] OS running from a sata drive? on: January 13, 2011, 01:43:16 AM
Just wondering if people have had any luck getting the guruplug plus to run its OS from a sata drive? During using the debian installer it does not list the sata drive as a install choice.

Any ideas?

I followed this guide http://bzed.de/posts/2010/05/installing_debian_on_the_guruplug_server_plus/ to get my guru server plus running from SDcard.

After running

bash ./README* --rootkernel
mv /boot/uImage  /boot/uImage.bak
ln /boot/sheeva-2.6.35.10-uImage /boot/uImage
flash-kernel
reboot

I still find im running 2.6.32-5-kirkwood - Anyone got any ideas where I messed up?

Does this installer work on the guru plug series?
7  Linux Stuff / General Linux questions / mod_security2 on: November 02, 2010, 11:38:25 AM
Just a quick question. Has anyone had success with mod_security2 and apache2?

I will prob be giving it a shot later but just nice to know if anyone has been there and got it working already

After carrying out the guide on the following link http://bzed.de/posts/2010/05/installing_debian_on_the_guruplug_server_plus/ I find my nosiey little box running debian.

However I have noticed there is no wlan0 interface or hci0 interface. Has anyone else noticed this and if so have thet found a work around??

( I have posted a comment to the blog creater to ask him but thought I would ask here too )
9  Hardware and U-Boot firmware / Hardware / Re: GuruPlug Server PLUS no complaint about the fan ? on: September 25, 2010, 06:21:33 AM
Got to say after such a long wait I feel really let down by what seems like something they have just thrown in there. This is not a "professional upgrade kit" its a fan and some duck tape.

I am also in two minds if I want to keep the unit now.

Just my 2 cent

Well NewIT have been back in touch and informed me they will be stocking the guruplug-server units and will be taking orders 10 days before aconfirmed delivery date from Globalscale (sometime in April).

11  General Category / General Discussion / Re: A plethora of options on: February 05, 2010, 06:13:15 AM
I have emailed NewIT asking if/when they will be getting the guruplug version of the plugs in and if they will be doing pre orders, soon as I hear back from them I will update you.
12  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Plug broken? on: February 05, 2010, 04:57:19 AM
Have you tried to re-flash the device with the installer?

I would also say try the reset button, remove the unit from mains power for about 5 minutes then try power again.

( I did have a unit that suffered the same problem and was retuned after being told it was faulty )

That would be great. I plan on leaving the plug on over night to see if it still hangs or not. Thank you

Ignore that msg about the hanging that was just me complaining. I will go and change the bootcmd now and give it a shot. Sorry I miss understood what you wanted. Must have been more tired than I thought. Worrying I am going to be stuck with a unit that could be faulty (The SD card not being picked up at times, hnaging after a while) kinda makes me want to take the refund insted of possibly throwing away the cash on somthing thats faulty.

Il post the results inabit. Yet again thanks for the help.
