About Plug Computer Basic

The first in Marvell’s plug computing portfolio, the Plug Computer (Basic) runs network-based software services that normally require a dedicated personal computer. Featuring a 1.2GHz Marvell Kirkwood processor with 512 MB of flash memory and 512 MB of DDR2, the Plug Computer development kit provides ample performance and resources to develop or port almost any application.

The device includes a mini USB connector wired to an FTDI FT2232 chip which provides the developer's computer with access to two ports, a JTAG port connected to the internal JTAG bus, and an RS232 port connected to the Kirkwood processor's serial port. With these two ports the bootstrap and kernel console can be easily accessed. Multiple Linux distributions are available for the platform, and software is supported in an open source model. Network connectivity is via Gigabit Ethernet; peripheral devices can be connected using USB2.0.
